Transfer Domain Name From Godaddy: Guidelines To Follow

Godaddy is no doubt one of the most established and preferred web hosting services on the internet today.  The company has hosted and managed hundreds of thousands of websites and blogs for individuals and businesses all over the world.  So, are you a member of the Godaddy family and you wanted to change over to another domain registrar? Well, the process is not as complicated as many people might make you think.

The process of transferring your domain name from your godaddy to another registrar would be partially dependent on the new registrar.  On the other hand, if you intend to move your domain name from one account to another still with Godaddy, you will have to follow through some well outlined steps. Remember that, you have to seek professional advice and guidelines if in any case you do not understand how to go about the entire process.

Transferring domain names to a different registrar

If you wish to transfer your domain name from Godaddy to another registrar out there on the internet, you will first have to inform the administrative unit at Godaddy that you want to transfer your domain name.  You also have to verify that all your administrative details are valid.  If in any case you are transferring an .AU domain name to another registrar, you will have to make sure that the email account that is connected with your registrar contacts is correct and accurate.

Secondly, if it’s possible, you will have to cancel your protected registration.  Again, if you have any private registration with Godaddy, you might be forced to cancel any of these engagements.

Thirdly, you can unlock your domain name from Godaddy servers.  Of course you will have to seek professional advice from the experts in this case.  You have to make sure that you are doing everything in the right manner.

Fourth, you will have to check with the new registrar so as to know if you require any authorization codes.  There are some domain extensions which don’t need such codes.  If you need a code, make sure they guide you on how you can get one.

Once you have done that, you can now embark on the process of initiating your domain transfer at the new registrar.  You might have to liaise with the other registrars support or help desk so as to get any specific guidelines and instructions.

Then from there you can authorize the transfer of your account to the newly chosen registrar.

Once you have completed this process, the registry will notify Godaddy that you have completed the transfer and offer details about the transaction.  If you do not choose to accept or deny that transfer request, then Godaddy will have no other option but to complete the transfer after a span of five days.

The registry at Godaddy, then notifies the registrar about the acceptance of rejection in due course.

Once the transfer request has been completed, Godaddy will email you all the confirmation details.  You need to note that any transfer between two registrars take up to seven days to be completed and can only happen once you have authorized it.
